Dr. Devanand Mangar founded the University Foundation for Education and Research in September of 2006 in an effort to improve access to care and to increase positive outcomes in the delivery of healthcare. He earned his medical degree at the State University of New York in Syracuse in 1985 and completed a residency program in surgery in 1986 at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven Connecticut. His interest in anesthesiology led to the completion of a secondary residency in anesthesiology in 1990 at SUNY – Syracuse, New York. Dr. Mangar relocated to the Tampa area in 1990.
Dr. Mangar is the Vice-Chief of Anesthesiology and Chief of Staff at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He also serves as President and CEO, Florida Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. He is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Florida Medical Association, American Society of Regional Anesthesiologists, American Medical Association, Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists and has been a Diplomate in the American Board of Anesthesiology since 1991.
Dr. Mangar has published numerous abstracts and papers and continues to further his contribution through clinical and academic research avenues. He also serves as a Voluntary Assistant Professor for the Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida.
